Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe
Our Zimbabwe-South private concession is situated alongside the breathtaking Limpopo River. This vast landscape is known for its big-tusked Elephant and shares unfenced borders with both Kruger National Park and Gonarezhou National Park. The biggest bull produced this past season weighed a staggering 96 pounds. We are also blessed with healthy numbers of leopards, with a fair quota released annually.
Through our conservation efforts and income generated by sustainable hunting, we are able to support and uplift local communities. Poverty has become the reality these people face every day and the situation is aggravated by regular human-wildlife conflict. Hunting addresses this problem and provides much-needed funding for social development programmes and in many cases, it also became the only source of protein they know.
Accommodation
We have two camps in Zimbabwe due to the large size of our hunting area. Our main camp is a rustic thatched roof camp on the banks of the Bubi River, set in a dense riverine forest. Here we have six ensuite chalets. Our fly camp has all the basic amenities one might need with spacious ensuite canvas tents on raised concrete slabs, each with a shower, toilet and basin.

Free State
Free State
Often overlooked as a prime hunting destination, the Free State Province in South Africa offers some of the finest wing shooting grounds for endemic species. However, ensuring the continued success of this unique hunting experience requires careful planning, well-curated hunting packages and strict adherence to the hunting regulations of the region. Thanks to the experience of professional hunters and their unique knowledge of the weather patterns and seasons of the region, they are able to narrow down the well-known locations of bird species on offer. While shooting from strategically placed hides have proven effective, trekking through open fields while wing shooting alongside well-trained German Pointers remains a classic hunting experience.Terrestrial Gamebirds include:
- Helmeted Guineafowl (Numida meleagris)
- Swainson’s Spurfowl (Pternistes swainsonii)
- Orange River Francolin (Scleroptila levaillantoides)
- Common Quail (Coturnix coturnix)
Waterfowl include:
- Egyptian Goose (Alopochen aegyptiacus)
- Spur-winged Goose (Plectropterus gambensis)
- Yellow-billed Duck (Anas undulata)
- Red-billed Teal (Anas erythrorhyncha)
- Red-knobbed Coot (Fulica cristata)
Shotguns & Ammunition:
The shotguns of choice for terrestrial game birds and waterfowl are Over-Under or Side-by-Side shotguns in either 12 or 20 gauge. For pigeon shooting, semi-automatic are the better option. Hunters are welcome to import their own firearms for their hunts, or hire from a fine selection of rifles and shotguns on offer. Some additional costs are applicable for either option. We are mindful that travelling with ammunition can add unnecessary weight to a traveler's luggage, we therefore keep an abundant supply of most standard ammunition possibly required on hand. Accommodation at the Van Rooyen family’s Glen Guinea Lodge offers a blend of luxury living and a traditional farm stay, and offers all the comforts guests could need on icy nights in the notoriously cold Free State winter.- Free State, South Africa
